EU forced to deal with Biden price hikes, says Duma speaker
Vyacheslav Volodin recalled that the American president announced in early March that the US was imposing a ban on oil, gas, and other energy supplies from Russia
MOSCOW, June 8. /TASS/. Washington has been forcing EU countries to give up Russian energy resources, while they themselves have almost doubled their oil supplies from the country. This points to the double standards of America’s policy, and because of it, European citizens are forced to tolerate soaring energy prices, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said on his Telegram channel.
"There is a double standard. Now let European politicians and officials explain why their citizens should put up with the Biden price hikes," Volodin stressed.
He recalled that the American president announced in early March that the US was imposing a ban on oil, gas, and other energy supplies from Russia. "But data from the US Energy Information Administration (part of US Energy Department - TASS) show otherwise. Oil supplies from Russia for March almost doubled compared to February, from 2.325 million barrels to 4.218 million barrels," Volodin noted. Thus, he emphasized, Russia moved up from ninth to sixth place in the rating of major oil suppliers to the United States.
However, as the Duma speaker pointed out, Washington simultaneously "forced EU countries to impose sanctions against Russia" and give up Russian energy resources. "And it [Washington] succeeded," Volodin added.
