Russia reviews Italy’s proposals on settlement in Ukraine, senior diplomat says

MOSCOW, May 23. /TASS/. Moscow is studying Rome’s plan for settling the situation around Ukraine, these proposals will be assessed following an analysis, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko told journalists on Monday.
"[The plan] is not being discussed between Russia and Italy. We received it recently. We are studying it. When we finish analyzing it, we will provide an assessment," the senior diplomat said in response to a question on the matter.
On Thursday, La Repubblica reported that Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio submitted a proposal on a peaceful settlement in Ukraine to the UN and G7 partners which provides for a ceasefire as well as a treaty on "contested territories" and a general multilateral agreement on security guarantees in Europe. An Italian diplomatic source told TASS that this proposal is in its initial stage of discussion and may lay the foundation for the negotiation process.
