Self-respecting countries not to put up with role West wants them to play — Lavrov

The top diplomat stressed that he had no doubts that the world would be multipolar

MOSCOW, May 17. /TASS/. Self-respecting countries will not put up with the role of obedient extras the West wants them to play, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday.

"I have no doubts that the world will be multipolar. Big countries, which respect themselves, will not put up with the role of obedient extras the West wants them to play. It never happens in history that such a colonial regime lasts for any length of time and can persist as a sustainable," he said.

"No doubt that life will win the upper hand in the long run. Artificial attempts at restraining the development of the historical process - they can really achieve their goals for several years. Now the West is convulsively, I would even say in agony, trying to restrain [this process] with its reaction to Russia’s actions in defense of its legitimate interests <...> but life will take its course," he stressed.
