MOSCOW, May 6. /TASS/. Russia is still open for contacts with foreign media, a high-ranking Foreign Ministry official said at a news conference on Friday.

"Of course, we can see the principles of unbiased journalism being ignored by certain countries. This primarily affects the citizens of countries that have no access to an alternative vision," Russian Foreign Ministry deputy spokesman Alexey Zaytsev said. "Meanwhile, we are still open for contacts with people from the media, including foreign media outlets. In the past week, the Russian foreign minister has given a few interviews, including to the Arab and Italian media."

"We are open to everybody, and we are ready to interact with everybody. And we can often see frank attitudes, though there are some aspects we do not always get right," Zaytsev said.

The diplomat pointed to a recent incident with Spain’s ABC daily that requested an interview with Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, and they submitted their questions and received answers, but then refused to publish the interview, Zaytsev said. The Russian Foreign Ministry published the interview on its website on May 4.

The Foreign Ministry has constantly given comment, explanations and interviews at all levels, the deputy spokesman said. "And we do that not only in Russian, as we do target the audiences abroad. We are doing our best along these lines to make our position clear in Russian as well as in foreign languages," he concluded.
