Dmitry Peskov also refuted possibility of a declaration of war against Ukraine on May 9

MOSCOW, May 4. /TASS/. Publications about plans to announce general mobilization in Russia on Victory Day should not be trusted, it is nonsense and not true, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists.

"No, you shouldn't," he said in reply to a question about whether one should listen to such reports, "It's not true, it's nonsense."

Responding to a question about whether there is any possibility of a declaration of war against Ukraine on May 9, Peskov stressed: "None." "This is nonsense," he repeated.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that, in response to a request by the heads of the Donbass republics, he had made a decision to carry out a special military operation in Ukraine. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories. Russian Defense Ministry reassured that Russian troops are not targeting Ukrainian cities, but are limited to surgically striking and incapacitating Ukrainian military infrastructure. There are no threats whatsoever to the civilian population.
