DPR head says many Ukrainian troops captured, good conditions created for them
Denis Pushilin did not rule out that those prisoners of war would later be involved in efforts to reconstruct Mariupol
MOSCOW, April 19. /TASS/. A lot of captured and surrendered Ukrainian troops are being kept in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) where good conditions have been created for them, DPR head Denis Pushilin told the Soloviev Live TV channel on Tuesday.
"There are a lot of captured [Ukrainian troops], they are being kept in good, appropriate conditions, though it is a huge burden on our humanitarian system. However, we understand perfectly well that no matter how much we hate them, we need to create good conditions for them and this is what we are doing," he said in response to a question.
Pushilin did not rule out that those prisoners of war would later be involved in efforts to reconstruct Mariupol. "Such a possibility is under consideration, it’s on the agenda, but we will make a decision when there is unconditional victory," the DPR head added.
