Russia takes note of North Korea’s support for operation in Ukraine, diplomat says

North Korean Ambassador to Moscow stated that his country’s leadership was committed to boosting friendly relations with Russia

MOSCOW, April 13. /TASS/. Pyongyang has expressed its full support for Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine and condemned the West’s destructive policies, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s First Asian Department Georgy Zinovyev said at an event dedicated to the 110th anniversary of North Korean founder Kim Il-sung’s birth, which was held at the North Korean embassy in Moscow on Wednesday.

"I would like to point out that the true nature of relations between countries and peoples becomes clear in a time of challenge. We saw it again today, when North Korea expressed its full support for Russia’s special military operation aimed at protecting the people of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and strongly condemned the main perpetrator of the conflict, that is, the United States and the collective West, who are putting global peace and security at risk," the Russian diplomat noted.

"When working to strengthen bilateral relations and develop approaches to ways to ensure security on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia, we will definitely take note of the position that North Korea adopted in this crucial time," Zinovyev stressed. He added that Russia would continue to actively participate in efforts to resolve issues facing the Korean Peninsula through political and diplomatic means and establish lasting peace in the region.

North Korean Ambassador to Moscow Sin Hong-chol, in turn, stated that his country’s leadership was committed to boosting friendly relations with Russia.
