West will have to answer for weapons supplies to Ukraine, Russian diplomat warns
Maria Zakharova pointed out that the West continued to pump Ukraine with weapons
MOSCOW, April 13. /TASS/. Western countries will have to answer for weapons supplies to Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Wednesday.
The diplomat pointed out that the West continued to pump Ukraine with weapons, including outdated Soviet ones, which are more expensive to recycle than to hand over to Kiev. "This is their terrible, cynical and criminal logic. Why would Western countries spend their money when they can pack it all and send it to Ukraine so that the conflict never ends and casualties continue to grow? Quite a smart idea, but someone will have to answer for it later," Zakharova noted.
According to her, since the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, the US has provided $1.7 bln worth of weapons to Kiev, while the EU has sent 1.5 bln euros worth of weapons to Kiev. "It once again proves that the European Union has stopped being just an economic union and is clearly evolving - or, I would say - degrading into a military and political alliance," the Russian diplomat added.
