BERLIN, April 8. /TASS/. The Russian embassy in Berlin sent a note of protest to the German Federal Foreign Office after the Soviet War Memorial in the Treptower Park was vandalized, the embassy said in a statement.

"We are deeply outraged by the appalling act of vandalism committed against the Soviet War Memorial in Berlin’s Treptower Park on April 7, 2022. Objects that were part of the architectural complex, including the renowned monument to the Soviet soldier, were tarnished with derogatory anti-Russian slogans, including calls to kill "all Russians." We view this foul move as a cynical attack against the memory of warriors, who gave their lives to liberate the world and Europe from Nazism," the embassy said.

"We immediately informed German law enforcement agencies and sent a note of protest to the German Federal Foreign Office, demanding that all consequences of this act of vandalism be removed, circumstances be established and extensive measures be taken for preventing similar incidents in the future, in accordance with the December 16, 1992 Russian-German agreement on war graves," Russian diplomats added.
