Russia will respond to continuing rabid restrictions from the West — Kremlin

Russia will respond as it sees fit, Dmitry Peskov noted

MOSCOW, April 7. /TASS/. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the new anti-Russian sanctions a continuation of the Western frantic policy.

"Of course, we believe these sanctions are a continuation of a completely rabid policy of introducing various restrictions," Peskov told reporters on Thursday. According to him, "the ongoing policy of applying any restrictions to family members speaks for itself". "It is unlikely that such steps, such approaches need any assessment. This is something that is difficult to understand and explain, but, unfortunately, we have to deal with such opponents," he added.

"Russia will respond without fail and will do it as it sees fit," the Kremlin spokesman continued.

Peskov said on the air with the Sky News TV Channel that Russia has started preparing for the recent sanctions imposed by the West as early as a year ago. "We have been living under sanctions for a couple of decades and we actually have got accustomed to this situation. We started to prepare ourselves for these sanctions a year ago," Peskov said.

"Now of course we are in a very tight situation in terms of economy but the economy is still on its feet, and we are may be not safe and sound but we are safe in terms of economy, in terms of macro stability. We are even trying to take advantage of the situation, give a boost to develop our productive sector, our national technology and so on and so forth," he added.
