MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on the victory of his Fidesz - Hungarian Civic Alliance party and its allies at the parliamentary election, the Kremlin press service reported on Monday.

"President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin sent Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban a congratulatory telegram on the occasion of the victory of the party coalition led by him at the election to the Hungarian National Assembly," the statement said.

The press service noted that Putin asserted that "despite the complex international situation, the further development of bilateral partnership ties fully answers the interests of the peoples of Russia and Hungary."

Overnight on April 4, Orban announced his party’s victory at the election held in the republic on Sunday. Hungary’s National Election Office reported that Fidesz and its allies, the Christian Democratic People’s Party, may count on 135 out of 199 seats in Hungary’s unicameral parliament.
