Lavrov brands global developments bid to create 'New World Order'

According to the Russian foreign minister, new rules are made for each particular case, "they are written by a narrow circle of Western countries who later pass it off as the absolute truth and demand that everyone follow these rules"

MOSCOW, March 23. /TASS/. The current global developments are an attempt to create a new world order, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an address at Moscow State Institute of International Relations on Wednesday.

"What is going on in the world is not only and not so much about Ukraine, rather it is about efforts to create a new world order," he specified.

"Many years ago, some ten years ago, our Western colleagues stopped using the term ‘international law’ that they had been promoting since the UN’s creation and [stopped] calling for implementing international law, but instead started to demand that everyone submit to a rules-based world order and respect this rules-based world order, and abide by those rules. No one is putting forward any rules though because there are no rules," Lavrov pointed out, describing the situation.

According to him, new rules are made for each particular case, "they are written by a narrow circle of Western countries who later pass it off as the absolute truth and demand that everyone follow these rules.".
