Duma speaker says Ukraine’s neo-Nazis got hold of US arms, that’s reason to impeach Biden
It was stated that the US Congress in 2017 passed a law on allocations to the Pentagon, which "bans funding the activities of the Azov battalion, naming it a neo-Nazi group"
MOSCOW, March 21. /TASS/. Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin on Monday said the US Congress should impeach US President Joe Biden because US weapons shipped to Ukraine ended up with neo-Nazis of the Azov battalion.
"The weapons that are shipped to Ukraine now ends up with neo-Nazi battalions including the Azov," Volodin said on Telegram. "That’s a reason to impeach Biden. He broke the law."
He said the US Congress in 2017 passed a law on allocations to the Pentagon, which "bans funding the activities of the Azov battalion, naming it a neo-Nazi group."
"The blame for the blood of peaceful civilians, which has been shed by the neo-Nazis of the Azov, lies on the US president," Volodin said. "That’s a matter for the Hague Tribunal."
He said the Azov battalion is made up of radical nationalists and mercenaries that "carry out punitive operations against Russian speaking population." The battalion, Volodin said, is designated as an extremist organization and banned in Russia.
The Duma speaker said Biden in March 2022 signed off on military aid to Kiev worth $800 mln, and the total US support for Ukraine in in excess of $2 bln.
"The US Congress has to impeach Biden. <…> The US Congress must do away with double standards and hold US President Biden accountable, Volodin said. "If the US is governed by the rule of law, there can be no other decisions."
In May 2017, then-US President Donald Trump signed off on a law on funding the federal government, which included an amendment supported by the US Congress to prohibit the Pentagon from spending funds allocated for providing military assistance to Ukraine on supporting the Azov nationalist battalion in Ukraine. This provision has since been extended several times.
