No threats whatsoever to security and stability in Crimea, Sevastopol
Dmitry Peskov said he saw no reason whatsoever to doubt this issue
MOSCOW, March 9. /TASS/. There is no threat to security and stability in Russia’s Crimea and Sevastopol, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Wednesday.
In response to a question whether there was a threat posed to the security and stability in Crimea and Sevastopol, Peskov said ""I know nothing at all that there is a threat to the security and stability of Crimea and Sevastopol."
"You are all well aware about an unfriendly situation there, but on the other hand our Armed Forces and other special-task units are doing everything possible to provide security and stability in Crimea and Sevastopol at the required level," Peskov said.
"I see no reasons whatsoever to doubt this issue," he added.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24 that in response to a request by the heads of the Donbass republics he had made a decision to carry out a special military operation in Ukraine in order to protect people "who have been suffering from abuse and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years." The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories and the operation was aimed at demilitarizing and denazifying Ukraine.
When clarifying the developments unfolding, the Russian Defense Ministry reassured that Russian troops are not targeting Ukrainian cities, but are limited to surgically striking and incapacitating Ukrainian military infrastructure. There are no threats whatsoever to the civilian population.
