MOSCOW, March 3. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a telegram of congratulations to Vahagn Khachaturyan, elected on Thursday as President of Armenia, the Kremlin press service reports on Thursday.
"I am sure that your activity in this high position will facilitate the further development of Russian-Armenian allied relations and an advancement of mutually advantageous Eurasian integration processes - for the benefit of our fraternal peoples, in the interests of strengthening regional security and stability," the press service quoted the telegram.
The Armenian parliament elected Minister of High-Tech Industry Vahagn Khachaturyan President of the republic in the second round during a secret vote on Thursday.
In 1992-1996, Khachaturyan was Mayor of Yerevan, while in August 2021 he was appointed Minister of High-Tech Industry.
