Putin aware of results of Russian-Ukrainian talks, too early to give assessments — Kremlin
It was reported that Russian Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky reported in person and additionally in writing
MOSCOW, March 1. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin heard a report on the results of Russian-Ukrainian talks that were held earlier, but it is too early to provide assessments, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Tuesday.
"Of course, the president received the report," he responded to a question on the matter. "Medinsky reported in person and additionally in writing," the spokesman specified.
"Now, it is too early to provide any assessments, we wouldn’t want to do this prematurely. They will be analyzed and only then it is possible to think about prospects," the Kremlin official added.
On February 24, Putin said in a televised address that in response to a request by the heads of the Donbass republics he had made a decision to carry out a special military operation in order to protect people "who have been suffering from abuse and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years." The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories. Following this, the US, the EU, the UK, and a number of other countries announced they were sanctioning Russian legal entities and private individuals.
On February 28, in the Gomel Region, Belarus, the Russian-Ukrainian talks were held that lasted almost five hours. According to Russian Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky who led the Russian delegation, during this time, the sides "went through all the points of the agenda in detail, found some points on which it is possible to forecast common positions" and agreed upon continuing the negotiation process.
