Russia keenly interested to see an end to Afghanistan’s permanent civil war — Putin

We will seek achieving precisely this goal by all possible means, Russian President said

SOCHI, October 21. /TASS/. Moscow is keenly interested to see an end to Afghanistan’s never-ending civil war, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a plenary meeting of the international Valdai Discussion Club on Thursday.

"It is beyond all doubt that Russia is keenly interested to see Afghanistan emerge at last from the never-ending turmoil of the civil war and the people of that long-suffering country - it is not an exaggeration to say so - feel themselves secure within the framework of their national borders and have chances to develop and prosper. We will seek achieving precisely this goal by all possible means," Putin said.

At the same time, he stressed that the role of Pakistan in this situation was in no way smaller than the role of Russia or China.

"We are interested in developing cooperation for the sake of achieving this common goal," Putin said.
