Invitations to international observers of State Duma election being sent — top diplomat

The 8th State Duma elections are scheduled for September 19

MOSCOW, August 4. /TASS/. Russia is already sending invitations to the State Duma election to international observers through various agencies, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper

"Currently the issue of the presence of international observers at the State Duma election is already being worked on. The invitations are sent through various Russian structures - the Central Electoral Commission, the Foreign Ministry, the Federal Assembly and others," he pointed out.

Commenting on the proposal of the Central Electoral Commission and the sanitary watchdog on the compulsory vaccination of the observers before the election, the foreign minister stressed that he would rely on the expert opinion in the issue of sanitary-epidemic measures and restrictions. "I am profoundly convinced that the issues of health and safety of all participants of the electoral process, including the foreign observers, are paramount," the top diplomat added.

The 8th State Duma elections are scheduled for September 19. The voting will stretch over three days: September 17, 18, and 19.
