EU continues to fuel anti-Russian course, diplomat says

MOSCOW, July 1. /TASS/. Brussels continues to fuel the confrontational course, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Thursday, commenting on the remarks made by EU High Representative Josep Borrell regarding the preparation of new sanctions against Moscow.

"It is pointless to talk to Russia in the language of sanctions, threats, or blackmailing. We regret that, instead of acknowledging this totally obvious and historically proven fact, the EU continues to fuel the confrontational rhetoric," the diplomat said.

According to Zakharova, Brussels is a hostage of its own mutually exclusive principles for building relations with Russia.

In June 29, the top EU diplomat said in his blog that, under an order of EU leaders, he will prepare new options for sanctions against Russia, as well as potential spheres of cooperation with Russia, calling it a major player on the global arena.
