Putin will always treat US President Biden with respect — Kremlin
Dmitry Peskov also pointed that the Russia-US dialog in Geneva had been really constructive
MOSCOW, July 1. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will always treat President of the United States Joe Biden with respect, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.
"Putin is very realistic about such things, he is always respectful, and I have no doubts whatsoever that his respect in regards to the United States president will be always present in their dialogues," Peskov said speaking in an interview with Russia’s Channel One television broadcaster.
On the other hand, Peskov continued, Putin is well aware that "today, and perhaps tomorrow, it is impossible in the United States to seek positions in domestic politics or to take part in political elections of any level by delivering a message to the US political establishment and the US people based on the improvement of good relations with Russia policy. This is totally impossible and unwanted in this country".
"A thesis of the confrontation with the Russian Federation and about the containment of Russia is in high demand in the United States, and only this thesis can serve as an ammunition belt during political elections at all levels," Peskov said adding that Putin is well aware of this situation and keeps building relations based on this reality.
Russia-US dialog
However, the Russian presidential spokesman also said that all of the mentioned above information does not mean that dialogue between Russia and the United States is impossible.
"We saw this dialogue in Geneva, and it was really constructive," Peskov said. "We will see, what comes next".
"There is a certain degree of unpredictability within our vis-a-vis, and maybe this is what complicates all affairs," the presidential spokesman stated.
On June 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Joe Biden held a summit in Geneva. The event was proposed by the US side. Putin noted after the summit talks that Moscow and Washington could agree on the rules of behavior in the fields of strategic stability, cyber security and regional conflicts.
