Russian lower house speaker conveys greetings from Putin to Tajik president

Tajikistan’s presiden and Vyacheslav Volodin discussed the role played by the CSTO and its PA in addressing issues related to the security of its members and problems related to compiling a single list of terrorist organizations within the organization

DUSHANBE, July 1. /TASS/. Speaker of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin has met with Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe and conveyed greetings from Russian leader Vladimir Putin to him, the press service of the lower house of the Russian parliament reported on Thursday.

"The chairman of the State Duma conveyed warm greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Tajikistan’s president. Vyacheslav Volodin and Emomali Rahmon discussed issues of bilateral cooperation and the development of relations between Russia and Tajikistan," the report said.

According to Volodin, the parliaments of both countries are doing a lot to provide legislative support to decisions made by the heads of state.

Rahmon and Volodin discussed the role played by the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and its Parliamentary Assembly (PA) in addressing issues related to the security of its members and problems related to compiling a single list of terrorist organizations within the organization.

Volodin, who is paying a working visit to Dushanbe, will chair a meeting of the CSTO PA Council and meet with the speaker of the upper house of Tajikistan’s parliament Rustam Emomali and speaker of the lower house of Afghanistan’s parliament Mir Rahman Rahmani.
