ANTALYA, June 30. /TASS/. Moscow and Ankara have agreed to step up cooperation in overcoming the effects of the novel coronavirus pandemic, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told a news conference following talks with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu.

"We agreed to step up cooperation in eliminating the effects of the coronavirus infection pandemic," he said.

"We were unanimous that the Russian vaccine Sputnik V and the plans for launching its production in Turkey will contribute to the stabilization of the sanitary-epidemiological situation in the country," Lavrov added.

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koja said that his country had signed a contract for importing the vaccine Sputnik V. On May 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin told his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a telephone conversation Russia was prepared to supply the vaccine to Turkey. The first batch of Sputnik V was delivered on June 14.
