Ordinary Europeans do not perceive Russia as adversary, diplomat says

MOSCOW, June 13. /TASS/. Ordinary EU residents view Russia as a necessary partner, not an opponent, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel on Sunday.
She said that before several summits with the participation of American President Joe Biden in Europe, YouGov and Datapraxis conducted surveys of the residents of 12 EU countries, including both countries of the "old" Europe and those who joined the Union relatively recently. The survey results demonstrated that for ordinary Europeans Washington is increasingly a "necessary partner" and not an "ally."
"And what about Russia? The most interesting thing is that, according to the same poll, Russia is also a ‘necessary partner.’ EU citizens perceive our country precisely like this and not as an ‘adversary,’ the image the political and media establishment is trying to impose on them," the diplomat pointed out.
"It is curious that continental Europeans have the same attitude towards the UK. It is not their sister anymore, but simply a neighbor - a necessary partner," the spokeswoman noted.
