Kremlin hopes common sense will prevail in US and more sanctions won’t be coming
This sanctions pressure has repeatedly proven to be ineffective, the Kremlin spokesman said
MOSCOW, February 19. /TASS/. Moscow hopes that common sense will gain the upper hand in Washington and that US officials won’t choose to go down the path of turning up the sanctions pressure, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.
The Russian presidential spokesman commented on the Biden administration’s plans to submit to Congress a report on additional sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
"We are still unaware about what sanctions Bloomberg and others have actually covered. We, nonetheless, hope that common sense will prevail among our dialogue partners and that we won’t go further down the path of this sanctions pressure, which has in fact repeatedly proven to be ineffective," the press secretary elaborated.
According to Bloomberg’s sources, the report outlines new restrictions targeting a small number of Russia-linked entities while German companies won’t be affected by these sanctions.
