Recent events accelerate process of creating Russian Foreign Ministry’s TikTok account
It is not homage to fashion, but merely information work, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said
MOSCOW, February 6. /TASS/. Russia’s Foreign Ministry has created an account on TikTok social networking service.
"We have been planning it for a long time, but the recent weeks’ developments have accelerated the process. It is not homage to fashion, but merely information work," Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters on Saturday.
Up to now, a few videos about the Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V have been uploaded. In one of them Alexey Navalny says that the Russian vaccine is taken with skepticism abroad, in particular in the West. In response, the Russian Foreign Ministry shows footage from the February 5 news conference in Moscow when EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell is congratulating Russia on the publication in the Lancet journal of a report on effectiveness of the Russian innovation.
Another video features Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at the same news conference when he says that in their first phone conversation US Secretary of State Antony Blinken congratulated Russia on the vaccine’s success.
