PACE to discuss Navalny arrest without adopting resolutions

The debates will be launched at 16:00 local time on January 27

STRASBOURG, January 25. /TASS/. Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) have voted to submit the issue of Russian opposition figure Alexey Navalny arrest after he arrived in Russia from Germany this January up for a discussion, the organization is broadcasting the meeting live.

Initially, two requests on the similar topics were tabled, one of them entailed debates with a subsequent vote on a relevant resolution. The members voted down urgent debates, while PACE President Rik Daems proposed passing the second request without the vote and discussing this topic in line with the current procedure without any resolutions.

Most members supported the agenda as proposed, the debates will be launched at 16:00 local time on Wednesday. Ordinarily, such debates are held Thursday, but an exception was made for this case.
