Russia condemns acts of vandalism against Red Army monument in Czech Republic — diplomat

Moscow expects that Czech authorities will hold the perpetrators responsible, the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said

MOSCOW, January 15. /TASS/. Russia expects that Czech authorities will take every measure possible to prevent any incidents similar to the one that took place near Ostrava and involved a monument to the Red Army soldiers, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told a briefing Friday.

"We resolutely condemn the outrageous acts of vandalism that took place on January 5 in the outskirts of the Czech city of Ostrava against the monument to the Red Army soldiers, who liberated this region in April 1945," she noted.

Zakharova added that Russia expects that Czech authorities will hold the perpetrators responsible. "We hope that <…> extensive measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future," she noted.
