Russia expects OSCE to contribute to resolving Ukrainian crisis
According to Putin, the organization currently does not fully meet the requirements and purposes for the sake of which it was created
SIMFEROPOL, March 18. /TASS/. Russia hopes that the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) will make its contribution to resolving the crisis in Ukraine, Russia will be committed to that, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with head of the delegation of French politicians, President of the French-Russian Dialogue Association Thierry Mariani.
"We do hope that the OSCE, which is currently fairly active in southeastern Ukraine, will make its positive contribution, will contribute to resolving that crisis, as well as many other crises on the Eurasian space," the president said. "We are ready for that, we will strive for that in every possible way."
According to the head of state, the organization currently does not fully meet the requirements and purposes for the sake of which it was created. Putin stressed that there are numerous problems on the continent, but no one is working on solving them. "In previous years, the organization paid attention to some very important human rights issues on the post-Soviet space, but that’s absolutely not enough. It was not actually established for that purpose," he said.
