Putin to discuss bilateral relations with Zimbabwe's president on Tuesday
Zimbabwe's President Emmerson Mnangagwa arrived to Russia on January 14 for a three-day official visit
MOSCOW, January 15. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks with Zimbabwe's President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Tuesday. The Kremlin press service earlier reported that the two leaders will discuss further development of Russian-Zimbabwean relations, as well as pressing international and regional issues.
Mnangagwa arrived to Russia on January 14 for a three-day official visit. On Monday, the Zimbabwean president visited the office of Russia's diamond mining company Alrosa. On Tuesday, January 15, Mnanagagwa will hold talks with Putin and also make a speech at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). On Wednesday, the Zimbabwean president and Russia's Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Dmitry Kobylkin will open the "Russia - Zimbabwe" business forum in Moscow.
In the framework of the the Zimbabwean president's tour, Mnangagwa will also visit Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan. He will also attend the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Mnangagwa became Zimbabwe's president in 2017. He replaced Robert Mugabe, who had ruled the country for 30 years prior. Mugabe last visited Russian in 2015, when he took part in the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Second World War.
The Zimbabwean Embassy in Moscow earlier said that Mnangagwa plans to discuss political and economic matters with Putin, as well as cooperation in security. The two presidents are expected to discuss the possibilities of strengthening bilateral trade and investment mechanisms, and to touch upon cooperation in the military-technical sphere.
