No Russians among crewmembers of sunken ship near Turkey’s Samsun - embassy
Media reports that two Russian nationals were aboard the vessel have not been confirmed
ANKARA, January 7. /TASS/. There were no Russian nationals among the crew of a cargo vessel that sank in the Black Sea near Turkey’s Samsun, Irina Kasimova, a spokesperson for the Russian embassy in Turkey told TASS on Monday.
"According to Samsun’s coastal guards, there were no Russians among the 13 crewmembers. Media reports that two Russian nationals were aboard the vessel have not been confirmed. According to the latest data, the crew included 11 Ukrainian nationals and two citizens of Azerbaijan," she said.
Anadolu Agency said earlier that the crew of the sunken ship included two Russians. According to preliminary data, six crewmembers of the Volga-Balt ship died but their nationality was not specified. Seven more men were rescued.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s ambassador to Turkey, Andrei Sibikha, wrote on his Twitter account that among those killed in the crash were four Ukrainian nationals.
