Putin wishes Happy New Year to leaders of BRICS countries

Addressing Chinese President Xi Jinping the Russian leader emphasized bilateral relations "have reached an unprecedentedly high level"

MOSCOW, December 30. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent his best wishes on the occasion of the New Year to the leaders of BRICS member countries, the Kremlin press service informed on Sunday.

"The relations of comprehensive confidential cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China have reached an unprecedentedly high level," the Russian leader addressed Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Addressing Brazilian President Michel Temer and President-elect Jair Bolsonaro, Putin noted that the Russian-Brazilian relations are developing in the spirit of strategic partnership in all spheres of activity, and stressed that Russia is ready to work on expanding the cooperation with Brazil, including within the BRICS format.

Putin also sent his best wishes to Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and Indian PM Narendra Modi, noting a constructive and dynamic nature of the development of Russian-Indian relations.

The Russian leader also commended the contribution of South Africa to building a just and democratic system of international relations in cooperation with Russia, he said in his message to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
