Kremlin: US Congress’ resolution against Nord Stream 2 another attempt to hinder project
The Kremlin does not consider such a line "correct or acceptable"
MOSCOW, December 12. /TASS/. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has referred to the resolution of the House of Representatives of the US Congress opposing the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline project as another attempt to hinder the implementation of a commercial project.
Asked to comment on the document, he said: "Here we see no new elements, a similar position has been announced at the level of US President and at the State Department level." "That is a consistent line, we do not consider it correct or acceptable for us, since the issue is about attempts to hinder the implementation of a purely commercial, economic project, which meets not only the interests of gas supplier - Russia, but also those of consumers, first of all Germany as a European Union country," Peskov added.
According to Putin’s spokesman, the gas pipeline project boasts a whole number of competitive advantages. "Thus (Washington) is trying to hinder the implementation of the project, using all acceptable and unacceptable methods that are nothing more than veiled unfair competition," he emphasized.
