MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. The Kremlin was very attentive to the information about Russian businessman Dmitry Rybolovlev’s detention in Monaco, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists.

"Such situations - detentions or arrests of our businessmen - did occur, and we usually treat each case very attentively, closely monitoring the incoming news regarding the protection of the lawful interests of citizens of the Russian Federation," the Kremlin spokesman stressed.

He declined to further comment. "We don’t know the circumstances, the charges and so on," Peskov explained.

The French daily newspaper Le Monde earlier reported, citing sources with knowledge of the situation, that Rybolovlev had been detained on Tuesday morning by Monaco’s authorities for questioning under a corruption case. The Monacan authorities also searched his Belle Epoque penthouse. On Tuesday evening Rybolovlev remained under custody together with some other perpetrators under the case, the newspaper reported.

The lawyers for the Russian billionaire confirmed his detention for interrogation in Monaco on Tuesday, highlighting that the spread of this information in the French media violated the secrecy of investigation.
