Putin, Erdogan to meet soon, says Russia's top diplomat

MOSCOW, August 24. /TASS/. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian leader Vladimir Putin will meet soon at the Astana-format summit in Iran, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said at a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on Friday.

"Our presidents are expected to hold a meeting soon," he said, referring to the upcoming summit of the three guarantor countries of the Syrian ceasefire (Russia, Turkey and Iran). "As foreign ministers, we must make preparations for such events," Cavusoglu added.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier that the third meeting on Syria between the presidents of Russia, Iran and Turkey was under consideration. According to some sources, the summit may take place in Tehran on September 7.
