Kremlin hails successful coordination between Russian, US military in Syria
They established operational communications channels and it helped and to avoid dangerous incidents and unpredictable situation in air and on the ground, the Kremlin aide said
MOSCOW, July 13. /TASS/. The Kremlin thinks that the experience of coordination of actions between the Russian and US military in Syria is very useful, Russian president’s aide Yuri Ushankov said on Friday.
"I can note that the Russian and US military have very useful experience of mutual coordination (of actions in Syria): they established operational communications channels and it helped and is still helping to avoid dangerous incidents and unpredictable situation in air and on the ground. It is very important," he said, commenting on the Syrian settlement issues ahead of an upcoming meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Donald Trump of the United States.
He also cited other areas of cooperation between the two countries on Syria, including within the Geneva process. He recalled that Russia and the United States had established a situation monitoring center in Amman that was tasked to exchange information about ceasefire violations in the southern de-escalation zone in Syria. Moreover, Putin and Trump, who took part in the APEC summit in Vietnam in November 2017, passed a joint statement to promote political settlement in Syria.
