MOSCOW, July 11. /TASS/. Russia’s deputy foreign minister has met with Syria’s ambassador to Russia to discuss preparations for another Syrian reconciliation meeting in the Astana format (comprising Russia, Iran and Turkey) to be held in Sochi in late July, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov has met with Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riyad Haddad at the latter’s request, the ministry said in a statement.
"The diplomats held an in-depth exchange of views on the latest developments in and around Syria, including matters concerning a political settlement in the country in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2254, as well as preparations for the 10th International Meeting on Syria in the Astana format, scheduled to take place in Sochi at the end of July," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
