MOSCOW, June 28. /TASS/. Russia’s Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova has arrived in Salekhard, in northwest Siberia, and is planning to meet with Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov convicted for terrorism.

"Russia’s Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova has arrived in Salekhard and she is planning to meet with Oleg Sentsov, who is serving his prison term, and visit a number of social facilities," the ombudsman’s press service told TASS.

Ukraine’s Human Rights Commissioner Lyudmila Denisova arrived in Salekhard by the same flight and is also planning to visit Sentsov, who is serving his prison term in a colony in Labytnangi (some 20 kilometers from Salekhard).

During her visit to Kiev on Tuesday, Moskalkova announced her plans to visit Sentsov. She also asked the prison authorities to allow doctors sent by the lawyers and relatives to examine Sentsov.

In late August 2015, Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov, best known for his 2011 film Gamer, was found guilty of terrorism in Russia. The North Caucasus District Military Court sentenced him to 20 years behind bars on charges of setting up a terrorist cell in Crimea and plotting terror attacks. In the spring of 2014, the group’s members carried out two terror attacks in Simferopol: they set on fire the offices of Crimea’s Russian Community non-governmental organization and a regional office of the United Russia party.
