Russian diplomat calls intrusion into Russian consulate in Seattle 'hostile takeover'
US officials broke into the residence of Russia’s consul in Seattle, Washington, a source said earlier
MOSCOW, April 25. /TASS/. US officials’ intrusion into the Russian consulate in Seattle, Washington, is a hostile takeover, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova wrote on her Facebook page on Wednesday.
"Do hurry to see how the American authorities have begun seizing the complex of Russian consulate general in Seattle," she said. "A state-sponsored hostile takeover is a rare spectacle."
Zakharova posted a link to live coverage from the premises of the Russian consulate.
A source with Russia’s embassy to the United States told TASS earlier that US officials had broken into the residence of Russia’s consul in Seattle, Washington, breaking the entrance door lock.
According to the source, the US officials "defeated the lock and entered" the residence.
They turned on the light in the residence, he said, adding the Americans "have begun tampering with the door lock" to the extension to the consulate.
