Peskov also said that any economist can easily see through the sanctions "undisguised attempts of unfair competition", attempts "to push out Russian companies from the global market"

MOSCOW, April 16. /TASS/. The Kremlin castigated Washington’s anti-Russia sanctions as nothing more than asset grabbing on a global scale, Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"Of course, this [sanctions against Russia] cannot have anything to do whatsoever or even be driven by considerations related to the situation in Syria or in any other country in the world," he said.

"It's nothing more than international asset grabbing," he stressed.

He added that for the West, the sanctions against Russia are becoming "a fixation."
"We still do not consider them to be legitimate, we consider them to be contrary to international law and the WTO rules (the World Trade Organization - TASS)," he noted.

Peskov also said that any economist can easily see through the sanctions "undisguised attempts of unfair competition", attempts "to push out Russian companies from the global market."

The Kremlin spokesman said that the country's authorities are taking all relevant measures to ensure the stability of the nation’s economic system.

On Sunday, US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley told CBS TV channel that further sanctions against the Russian government "will be coming down" because of Russia’s supporting Syria. According to her, US Treasury is to announce them on Monday.
