Russia’s negative image abroad is a stereotype imposed on the world – Putin
"The whole world recognizes Russia’s cultural achievements," Russian President said
MOSCOW, April 25 (Itar-Tass) – Russia’s negative image abroad is a stereotype imposed on the world public, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the traditional Q & A session with Russian citizens on Thursday.
“Why does the world dislike Russia? I do not think that we are unloved or considered to be ignorant. The whole world recognizes Russia’s cultural achievements. It is impossible to imagine the world culture without Russian culture, without our music and literature. It’s a shame not to know about that,” Putin said.
"I have heard that many times from various people. It became particularly clear when we were bidding for the right to host the Olympic Games,” Putin went on to say. He added that at that period of time many people, who were absolutely independent, had told him that they would support this country because they needed an independent and self-sufficient Russia. “Naturally, it’s exactly these qualities that we are going to strengthen,” Putin emphasized.
