Putin-Erdogan talks not in plans yet — Kremlin spokesman

MOSCOW, October 29. /TASS/. A conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan over the situation with the grain deal has not been planned yet, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told TASS on Saturday.

"There are no such plans yet," Peskov said when asked if Putin’s talks with Erdogan were planned following Russia’s suspension of its participation in the grain deal.

The Russian and Turkish presidents held previous talks on October 13 in Astana on the sidelines of the summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia.

In late July, a deal was struck in Istanbul to ensure supplies of food and fertilizers to global markets. The memorandum between Russia and the UN stipulates that the latter shall join the work for the lifting of anti-Russian restrictions that impede the export of agricultural products and fertilizers. Another document establishes a mechanism for the export of grain from Kiev-controlled Black Sea ports. A four-way center set up by Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN in Istanbul was tasked with inspecting the ships carrying grain to prevent arms smuggling and rule out provocations.

On Saturday, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russia was suspending its participation in the grain deal after the terrorist attack in Sevastopol, which was carried out by the Kiev regime with the participation of British specialists against the Black Sea Fleet and the commercial vessels involved in ensuring security of the grain corridor. Earlier, the Defense Ministry said that the Kiev regime had carried out a terrorist attack using nine drones and seven marine autonomous surface vehicles. All of them were destroyed.
