Aerosmith frontman arrives in Moscow for City Day concert rehearsals

Steven Tyler will perform at a concert dedicated to the Russian capital’s 868th anniversary

MOSCOW, September 2. /TASS/. Steven Tyler, the frontman of the legendary American rock band Aerosmith, has arrived in Moscow to start rehearsals of his concert dedicated to the Russian capital’s 868th anniversary, organizers said on Wednesday.

The rock band’s instruments and equipment weighing 17 tons have also been delivered ahead of the concert scheduled for September 5.

"Sound checks will start on September 4," organizers said adding that other Aerosmith members would arrive in Moscow on Thursday.

The Boston-based band founded in 1970 will give an hour and a half concert on a huge 50-meter wide stage currently being installed near Moscow State University.

Gorky Park, a Russian hard rock band popular in the US in the 1990s, British singer John Newman and Polina Gagarina, who took the second place at the 2015 Eurovision song contest, will also take part in the 7.5-hour show.

Aerosmith is known as the best-selling American rock band of all time, having sold more than 150 million records worldwide, including over 70 million records in the United States alone.

The band has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, put both on Rolling Stone's and VH1's lists of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
