Opera star Hvorostovsky cancels concerts over brain tumour diagnosis
Hvorostovsky will begin treatment this week and "remains very optimistic for the future," the statement on his websit reads
MOSCOW, June 25. /TASS/. The renowned baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky has been diagnosed with a brain tumour so the opera star had to cancel all the performances till the end of summer, the news was posted on his website.
"It is with great regret that Dmitri must cancel all performances from now until the end of August. He has recently been suffering from serious health issues, and a brain tumor has just been diagnosed," the statement reads.
At the same time it says that "his voice and vocal condition are normal." Hvorostovsky will begin treatment this week and "remains very optimistic for the future."
Dmitri Hvorostovsky was born on October 16, 1962 in eastern Siberia. He graduated from the Krasnoyarsk pedagogical college and later from the Krasnoyarsk Institute of Arts. He was a soloist at the Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre. In 1989 he won at the Cardiff Singer of the World and made his name all over the world. Hvorostovsky performed on the best stages - the Royal Opera House in Convent Garden (London), the Vienna State Opera, Metropolitan Opera in New York, La Scala in Milan, the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg and others and recorded 40 CDs as well. He was awarded with the Russian State Prize in music.
