Second launch of Russia's new Angara rocket likely to be commercial — manufacturer
The carrier rocket for the launch will be produced in early 2016
OMSK, June 3. /TASS/. The next launch of the Angara-A5 heavy-lift carrier rocket will be carried out in 2016, most likely with a commercial satellite, head of the Khrunichev research and production center Andrey Kalinovsky said on Wednesday.
"It will be in 2016. Everything depends on the satellite readiness. I think it will be a commercial launch, most likely," he told TASS.
He could not specify whether the spacecraft would be produced in Russia or abroad. "I don’t know, the decision has not been made as of yet," Kalinovsky said. He said the carrier rocket for that launch would be produced early in 2016.
The first and so far only test launch of the Angara heavy-lift carrier rocket was made in December 2014, when it placed a payload model into the geostationary orbit.
