MOSCOW, June 1. /TASS/. The Kremlin confirms that Russian President Vladimir Putin has given a Labrador puppy as a birthday present to a seven-year-old girl from Tula, a city located about 190 kilometers south of Moscow, Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday.

In reply to the query whether this present has something to do with the president or was an initiative of local authorities, he said "of course it has". "As a rule this comes as an appeal received by our department for work with citizens, which processes them," he said.

On Monday, seven-year-old Evelina Savushkina from Tula received a Labrador puppy as a birthday present from President Putin. The puppy was handed over by region’s head Vladimir Gruzdev.

The girl received the puppy with documents and with things necessary to take care of it. Previously, the girl wrote a letter to the president asking him for a puppy.
