Internet users from all over the world can now walk down the corridors and around the halls of the Bolshoi Theater, visit the boxes and even stand on the New Stage
MOSCOW, February 10. /TASS/. People from all over the world can now visit Russia’s famous Bolshoi Theater and even stand on its stage. On Tuesday, the Bolshoi launched virtual tours around the theatre and the New Stage and presented three online exhibitions of its valuable collections. The project was developed jointly with Google and is available in Russian and English.
"It is a detailed 3D tour of the theater, now available to the global Internet audience. Users from all over the world can now walk down the corridors and around the halls of the Bolshoi Theater, visit the boxes and even stand on the New Stage. For the first time, we will show the Upper Stage - the place where ballet and opera rehearsals take place," general director of the Bolshoi Theater Vladimir Urin said.
In the framework of the Google Cultural Institute project, three virtual exhibitions have been presented online on Tuesday - "Old Photos" (collection of photographs and negatives of the Bolshoi Theater), "Fyodor Fedorovsky. Legend of the Bolshoi Theater" and "Costumes of the Bolshoi Theater" (Internet users will get a chance to see the details of Bolshoi’s famous costumes from the 19th century).
"We are always glad to enter into partnerships with musical theatres. We are partners with the Paris Opera and Britain’s Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. Now the Bolshoi Theatre has been added to the list," Carlo d'Asaro Biondo, Google’s President Operations Southern Eastern Europe, Middle East Africa, said.
