Launch of Strela carrier rocket from Baikonur delayed for technical reasons

The rocket is to be launched tomorrow

MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. A launch of a rocket carrier Strela with a dual-purpose satellite Kondor-E which was expected to be made from the Baikonur spaceport on Thursday morning was delayed for technical reasons, Federal Space Agency Roscosmos told TASS.

“The launch has been postpoed for technical reasons to an auxiliary date which is tomorrow,” an official in the agency said Thursday.

Kondor is a series of small civilian radar Earth observation satellites developed by NPO Mashinostroyeniya for the Russian Defense Ministry and foreign customers.

The first Kondor satellite was launched into orbit in summer 2013.

Strela carrier rocket is based on the RS-20 intercontinental ballistic missile, known as Satan.
