Specialists have been elaborating the vaccine against HIV virus for 25 years already and there are no results yet, head of Russia’s Federal AIDS Prevention Center says
MOSCOW, November 26. /TASS/. Scientists and physicians are still far from creating HIV vaccine, head of Russia’s Federal AIDS Prevention Center, member of Russia’s Academy of Sciences, Vadim Pokrovsky, told a news conference on Wednesday.
“Specialists have been elaborating the vaccine against HIV virus for 25 years already and there are no results yet”, he said.
The scientist confessed that he went on repeating HIV vaccine would be created in some five years, while there had been more than twenty years already since he first mentioned it.
“I continue saying it again and again; however and unfortunately, it is very likely that the vaccine will not appear in the nearest future. There are still too many viruses and diseases, against which no antidote has been created within a whole century”, he said, stressing that there are still no vaccines against malaria, syphilis and phthisis.
