MOSCOW, October 17. /TASS/. Hole found in the radiator of the International Space Station has not had any impact on the output of electricity by solar batteries and there is no need for repairs, NASA spokesman Rob Navias told TASS on Friday from Houston.

He said the story about the hole that had been found during a routine analysis of images from outside camera was old news and the damage did not exert any influence on the output of electric power by solar batteries and hence no repair works were needed.

A number of mass media said earlier on Friday NASA experts had identified a large hole - 13 cm by 10 cm - in the ISS radiator. It had been left either by a micrometeorite or by space debris.

NASA said the hole appeared between May 12 and June 20. The meteorite’s strike did not damage the pipelines with ammonia and did not produce an ammonia leak.

At present, the expedition aboard the ISS includes Russian cosmonauts Maxim Surayev /mission commander/, Alexander Samokuev, and Yelena Serova, NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman and Barry Wilmore, and European Space Agency /ESA/ astronaut Alexander Gerst.
