Hong Kong action film with Jackie Chan to be shot in Vladivostok

The new work of the kung-fu action film master will tell the story of a jewelry robber, who is wanted by Russian and Chinese intelligence

VLADIVOSTOK, September 10. /ITAR-TASS/. Sammo Hung, also known as Hung Kam-bo, a well-known Hong Kong film director and actor and one of the founders of kung-fu action style in filmmaking industry, will shoot his new action movie in the Russian far eastern port of Vladivostok, the capital city of Russian Primorsky Territory, regional culture department told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

“The culture department officials are now preparing entry visas for 129 members of the film’s production crew. The shooting is scheduled for September-October, 2014, but the exact dates are unknown yet," said Anna Aleko, the department’s head.

The new work of the kung-fu action film master, with Andy Lau Tak-wah, also called Liu Dehua in Mandarin language, and famous Jackie Chan starring, will tell the story of a jewelry robber, who is wanted by Russian and Chinese intelligence. The story will develop mainly in the city of Vladivostok. The film will contain many armed clashes and fighting scenes, therefore the director plans to engage local martial arts athletes in them.

The film will be shot not only in the Old City of Primorsky Territory’s capital, but also in the city of Ussuriysk and Pogranichni district near the Russian-Chinese border.

In 2005 Vladivostok played host to South Korean director Kwak Kyung-Taek who shot his blockbuster Typhoon here. Earlier, in 2003 the Japanese shot their The Hotel Venus, which won the Debutant Contest within the framework of Moscow Film Festival. Later on, in summer 2004 Chinese filmmakers chose Vladivostok for their film Shanghai Story.
